Who are the tutors that are part of the Community Tutoring Initiative?
The tutors involved in the UF Community Tutoring Initiative are current UF students and certified alumni who are offering tutoring in a variety of subjects and courses. These students and alumni have all successfully completed a tutor training course, passed a background check and have been reviewed by the Dean of Students office for verification of their affiliation to UF and previous conduct history.
How do I find a tutor for a specific subject?
You can search for a tutor using the filters on the webpage, including subject, course code, price, availability, and more. The filters are located on the left and top-left of the page.
Where should I meet my tutor for our tutoring session?
We recommend well-lit public places like coffee shops and libraries. For online tutoring sessions, we recommend GoBoard.com, a free online tutoring/studying platform.
What if I need to cancel my tutoring session?
If you need to cancel your session, please do so at least 24 hours prior to the session. You can reschedule your session for another time by opening the “My Sessions” page in your account, finding the session you need to reschedule, and selecting another available time on your tutor’s schedule.
Who should I contact if I have a question about signing up as a tutor or booking a tutor?
You can call Tutor Matching Service at 877-919-TUTOR (1-877-919-8886) or send them an email at help@TutorMatchingService.com. They will be happy to help and answer any and all questions whether you are a student, parent, or tutor.
How can I sign up to be a tutor?
To sign up as a tutor for the UF Community Tutoring Initiative, click the Community Tutoring link, and then on UF/Tutor Matching Service webpage select the "Login/Signup" button on the top right. Follow the steps to complete your tutor profile. In order to be approved as a tutor for this program, you must be a current UF student or an alumni, complete Tutor Essentials online tutor training, pass a background check and be screened by the Dean of Students office for your conduct history.
How do I get paid as a tutor?
48 hours after your session we transfer the money to your PayPal account or bank account (assuming that your tutee does not request a refund). You will receive a confirmation email or text message each time money is transferred to you (again, 48 hours after your session). However, it may then take up to 1 full business day from the time of the payment confirmation for PayPal to accept/deposit the money, or up to 3 business days from that point for bank accounts (depending on your bank’s policies).
